I. Multiscale Methods -a Heat Shock Response Model

My graduate research involves the application of stochastic analysis to biological problems. Recently, interest in mathematical biology has grown enormously and mathematicians in various areas have applied their theories to biological models. As a result, interactions between mathematicians and biologists have become more commonplace. Research experiences in my graduate studies are well balanced in classical mathematics, mathematical biology, and simulation methods. Based on models in the biological literature, we used continuous-time Markov jump processes to represent the number of molecules of each chemical species. Let X(t) be a vector representing the state of the system at time t, and its ith component, Xi(t), be the number of molecules of the ith chemical species at time t.
